Suggested Venue: Local Park, picnic shelter, or your own backyard! Our featured party was held at a local historic home.
Food: We served individual picnic lunches- an adult version and a version for the kidos. Each box was labeled and displayed for guests to pick up as they desired. Now, a simpler version would be to use brown paper lunch bags for the lunches add a cute label and a gingham ribbon and you have a very cute picnic lunch. You could also just do individual bags for the kids and have a display with fried chicken, cole slaw, and chips for the adults.
Beverages: Use two of the glass beverage dispensers to serve sweet tea and lemonade. Have a ice filled bucket with bottled waters and juice boxes for the kids.
Now to make it cute, we had a mason jar filled with straws decorated with a charm that read "Sippin Pretty".
Activities: Make simple signs to guide guests to the different activities around the yard. Set up traditional outdoor games such as croquet, bocce ball and horseshoes. You can even have group games like a three-legged race or organize a group corn hole tournament.
Favors: Purchase individual baskets for each family attending the party. Fill the basket with a mini pie, two gourmet sodas such as Izze and a Whimsical Cookie.
Seating and Decor: If you find a place that already has picnic tables, great! Add a few mason jars filled with something simple like daisies, spider mums or hydrangeas. You can also pick up a few gingham tablecloths and spread them out on the ground for additional seating. Check out the cake below. A perfect example of a picnic theme!
